Criminal-record and social-profile search option.
View Records Sponsored partner optionA Dallas County DWI event can appear in Sheriff jail data, a county criminal-court case and the Texas DPS driver record. Those sources should be read together but never merged into one status field.
Use the jail lookup for booking/custody, the County Clerk for criminal case progression and Texas DPS for the driver-record consequence.
For Dallas County DWI arrests, use Dallas County Sheriff for booking/current custody, Dallas County Clerk criminal courts for filed charge and disposition, and Texas DPS for the driver-record/license consequence. A jail entry can outlive custody and should never be used as the final case outcome.
| Layer | Custodian | Best question |
|---|---|---|
| Booking/custody | Dallas County Sheriff | Was the person booked or currently held, and under what booking data? |
| Criminal case | Dallas County Clerk / court | What DWI charge was filed and how did the case progress or end? |
| Driver history | Texas DPS | What reportable violations or license-status actions appear on the driver record? |
Sheriff/jail data records custody and initial booking details.
The criminal case receives a case number and filed charge.
Texas DPS may record actions affecting driving privilege or later reportable outcomes.
Court resolution and license restoration can occur at different times.
| Field | Source use | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Booking/jail identifier | Sheriff lookup | Distinguishes custody events for the same person. |
| Criminal case number | County Clerk/court | Directly verifies DWI case activity and disposition. |
| Arrest/filing date | Cross-source chronology | Connects jail and court records without relying on name alone. |
| Driver license credentials | Texas DPS self driver record | Checks the current/history layer under DPS rules. |
Record the arrest/booking date, the latest criminal-court docket date and the date the Texas DPS record was checked. These systems update for different reasons, so one “last updated” field can hide a stale layer.
If the person is no longer in custody, use the County Clerk/court case to continue the legal chronology rather than assuming the disappearance from jail lookup means the DWI case ended.
